DIY & Restore in March

Essentials for a clothing DIY project: jacket, denim, needle, thread, scissors, and stencil.

For this project, I chose a cool tone of green for the thread so it would blend the light denim and tan jacket together.

I created a simple heart stencil with paper and used that to trace out out two hearts that will be sewn onto the jacket. It is best to turn the fabric inside out when tracing the stencil.

Surprise! The tear on the elbow is now hidden with a fresh pattern!

Finished product.
So often holes, tears, ink stains, and lost buttons will plague our wardrobe. Instead of tossing your garment to the trash, restore it with fabric! Lace, plaid, or denim are some great options to patch any unsightly mark on clothes. This week Galvez Glam showcases Uzoma Igboagi's tan jacket that is refreshed with heart-shaped elbow patches made from denim scraps.
Love, Jasmine
